1862 6d brown imperforate
on large star watermark paper, cancelled by a nearly complete example of the
scarce Maori Wars 5/Otahuhu/A cancel. The stamp has four good
margins, just touching at the bottom right corner. Large closed tear
(c.11mm) running from the D of ZEALAND to the left hand side of the Queens
head. Unfortunately a Superb
example of this rare cancel on a damaged stamp. Spacefiller only Otahuhu - Information The main camp was set-up at Otahuhu
on the southern outskirts of Auckland in 1861.
The distinctive 5/Otahuhu/A obliterator was provided in 1862 and
continued in use until at least 1874. Please see scan for
