1864 2d blue (Plate 1) perforated 12½ on large star watermark paper cancelled using the scarce Maori Wars period Queens Redoubt cancel.
Perfs trimmed at top right and with an Imperf. margin at the base.
Queens Redoubt - Information
From the camp at Otahuhu troops advanced south and fortified posts, consisting of ‘Redoubts’, or timbered stockades were built at strategic points. Field headquarters was established near Pokeno. This was named ‘Queens Redoubt’; and here postal facilities were provided and the distinctive obliterator issued.
