I am firmly convinced that properly-operating C8 preamps are the best-sounding McIntosh tube preamps ever made, due to their 10 record compensation switches which are not part of any newer stereo preamps McIntosh produced. The faceplate is slightly bent on the upper left corner... See picture 2. The control knobs are not original, and the middle two knobs (bass and treble) slip. The bass and treble pots seem to work okay when turned with the non-slipping knobs.No C8 is self-powered and therefore needs an outside power supply, which is not supplied. No tubes or octal cord are included, so I cannot test the unit. The patina of the faceplate is somewhat darker than it appears in the flash photo. Due to its age, there is no return and no guarantee of any kind. The top and bottom plates are included.I will not charge you for packing. The packed weight of the unit will be about 12 pounds.
