Please note: This soldier named Karl Wilhelm Wegener is listed at the German Volksbund website. There you´ll find his name and data, the day of his death, the location and his grave number. The soldier was on the Infantery regiment 47 (army postal # 20544 E). His Chief was Lieutenant Rudolf Buhse (Kampftruppe Buhse) who signed this document.

Original death message from 12. June 1942. The letter reads:

Dear Mrs. Wegener !

During the fights at Sewastopol nearby station Belbek, your husband, grenade gunner was killed in action on 7.6.1942 for his fatherland and his duty.

I offer you my deepest sympathy in the name of his comrades. You husband was owner of the Romanian Cross with swords class III. The company will never forget him. May it be your confort, that your husband died for the future of our nation, the Führer and the Reich. He died without pain by an direct grenade hit.

The document is co-signed by an Captain and Adjutant. Please note, that the 68 year old document is in an age related pretty yellowed condition. The paper is very thin and has some folds.
